To My Dearest Mother,
Mother's Day is once again round the corner in tandem with your birthday. Yet another year has passed and as we reflect on time creeping up on us, I realize that it has been a long time since I last wrote you a card and thanked you for being the wonderful mom that you had been all these years.
You and I are both emotional and expressive people but yet when it comes to matters of the heart, it seems we don't express our love for each other as much as we would like. Mother, you mean the world to me and it has always been my dream to give you the life that you deserve. Everything I have today is because of you and I will never forget how you toiled to raise, guide and nurture me over the years. We've had our differences, you and I, but one thing I'm certain is that our goals for each other remain the same. We only want what we feel is best for the other; from a son to mother and a mother to her son. This bond that we share, to love and protect, to hold and guide, to care for and embrace will never be broken. The promise that you asked me to remember at the age of 12 still runs deeply in my thoughts every single day of my life.
Too often, we are absorbed in our own busy world to take time to reflect on how much we have gone through together over the years. What my life might have been without your constant reminders or nagging to say the least. It would have been a total disaster. Even though there are times, I'd admit, that I do seem irritated at the things you say, please know that deep inside, I understand that you say these things because you care. Thank you mom, for doing what you do, I mean this from the bottom of my heart.
Mom, I apologize for all the words I've said that might seem harsh, unjustified or belittling. It was never my intention to do so. Perhaps it is the comfort zone we share that allows me to speak my mind freely or the emotions that goes into what I say that makes it all sound wrong. A son should never disrespect his mother by words or action. If I have done so, please do forgive me. Like you, my only intentions were always ever for your wellbeing.
Time passes quickly. Soon, your grandkids will be adults and both of us will grey with the times. Nevertheless, you will always be my mother and I will care and protect you the way you did for me. You taught me to walk so that I may one day walk for you. You taught me to speak so that I may one day speak on your behalf. This is my duty as your son but also the love a son has for his mother.
Grow old with me mom, let us enjoy this sanctity between a mother and her son forever. I love you mom. Happy Birthday and Mother's Day in advance.
Your Son
