The Story of the Young Dragon

In a secluded order far far away, there once lived a young purple dragon who had high hopes, dreams and ambitions in making his mark in this world.

However, this young dragon was arrogant and rude. In fact he believed that he was and should rightfully be the "King of the World".

In his world, strength and violence was the only way to win the respect of others around him. A world where the strong prevailed and weak perished.

Life had not been easy for him growing up in his esteemed order and he had to constantly prove himself time and again through his wit, guile and at times, sheer strength. Despite everyone around him telling him that violence was wrong, young Dragon only believed in himself and others like him who yearned for a good fight.

As the days passed, the leaders of the realm grew tired of Dragon's arrogance and constantly placed him under tight scrutiny. A single mistake and they would find the excuse to publicly retaliate, scorn and even humiliate him. There was no fairness for the young dragon as he was left to fend for himself most of the time. Alone and with no powers of self defence, he could do very little to the elders who had already determined his fate.

Yet deep inside, the young dragon wanted to be different. He wanted to stamp his mark of authority in this world. In his words, all he ever wanted was to be seen and heard. Young, unabashed, ill-tempered and with a natural disregard for authority meant that he would always be at the wrong end of people's criticism. Often maligned and accused for things he did not do, Young Dragon was always blamed for disrupting the order and was soon becoming public enemy No.1.  There were times where he thought of simply giving up.

Despite all this, he developed a strong sense of justice, believing that one day, he will put his strength to good use by upholding justice for the mistreated. He wanted to champion his cause for others who were mistreated like him and who had no voice or courage to be heard. But sadly, no one believed in him...

Then one day, he met an old sage of the order, who described his life in one simple sentence, "You do the things you do because no one believes in you; yet the more they disbelieve, the more you do to prove your point." Well, the old sage chose to believe in the young dragon and wanted him to prove himself by making things right. He reminded the young dragon to assume responsibility for his actions and if he wanted to be heard and seen, violence was the wrong approach. He granted the young dragon the power he needed to uphold justice within the order and took a gamble simply because he saw the good that this dragon would eventually do.

This glimmer of hope gave the young dragon a renewed zest in life and a belief that he could finally right his wrongs. He took his role seriously as this was something he had always dreamed about. However, this was short-lived as the elders moved swiftly to end what they felt was a potential breach of security. They removed his power, conducted a trial and found the sage guilty of abusing his authority. Needless to say, the elders had already decided to yet again, destroy the young dragon's dream without even giving him fair warning. Had this been any other person, they would have certainly taken a more tolerable approach. Disappointed with how the order treated the poor young dragon, the sage decided on a path of self exile. There is no longer any reason to help an order that has forgotten its basic reason of existence.

The young dragon is now at a crossroad with 2 very simple paths before him. Should he give up and walk away or should he stay and prove to those who believe in him that he is capable of the good that is expected of him?

Remember, you have the power to HELP or HARM. Use it wisely!
